 ICHNOS| AMORGOS

ichNos is a contemporary architectural residence set within the rugged landscape of Amorgos, Greece, carefully positioned to engage with the island’s dramatic terrain and uninterrupted views of the Aegean Sea. Designed as an extension of the natural topography, the project follows the contours of the land with restraint, allowing architecture and landscape to exist in quiet continuity.

The residence is organized into two distinct zones. The upper level hosts the main living spaces, while the lower level accommodates four independent guesthouses discreetly embedded into the hillside. This arrangement preserves privacy while creating a seamless spatial sequence across the site. Internally connected yet visually integrated into the terrain, the project minimizes its physical impact and maintains the organic character of the landscape.

Materiality plays a central role in defining the atmosphere of ichNos. Earth-toned surfaces, textured plaster, natural stone, and carefully controlled lighting create spaces that feel calm, grounded, and timeless. Large openings frame panoramic views toward the sea and the island of Nikouria, reinforcing the constant dialogue between interior and exterior living.

The architecture embraces the Cycladic climate through shaded outdoor areas, protected courtyards, and open terraces that capture natural light and cooling sea breezes. Water elements, including the infinity pool overlooking the horizon, strengthen the sensory connection between architecture and the surrounding environment.

Rather than imposing itself onto the site, ichNos in Amorgos adapts to it. The project reflects a design philosophy rooted in simplicity, context, and permanence, creating a contemporary retreat that feels deeply connected to the island’s landscape, light, and atmosphere.
