1:2 Living — Voula, Athens
From a single residential unit to an evolving architectural system, 1:2 Living in Voula, Athens explores the idea of expandability as a core design principle. The project begins with a compact residential module that becomes the catalyst for multiplication, allowing the architecture to grow both horizontally and vertically. Rather than a fixed composition, the building is conceived as a flexible framework capable of adapting over time, responding to changing needs while maintaining a coherent architectural identity.
The design embraces repetition as a refined language. Carefully proportioned volumes are stacked and shifted to create depth, privacy, and a dynamic relationship between solid and void. Differences in elevation between the front and rear façades enhance vertical progression, while generous terraces extend living spaces outward, encouraging a seamless connection between interior and exterior. Clean geometries and controlled openings allow natural light to shape the apartments, reinforcing a calm and contemporary residential atmosphere.
Fully integrated into the urban fabric of Voula, the project responds to the character of Athens’ southern suburbs, where openness, light, and understated elegance define the residential experience. The architecture balances density with comfort, organizing the building as a sequence of layered spaces that maintain both privacy and visual continuity. Outdoor terraces, recessed balconies, and shared transitions soften the scale of the structure while creating a unified whole.
What began as a single residential unit gradually unfolds into a complete housing complex. Each addition reinforces the architectural logic, preserving clarity while allowing growth. The result is a contemporary residential environment designed for elevated urban living — adaptable, coherent, and rooted in the lifestyle of Voula, Athens.
